Blog Crushes & Amish You So Much - Kristen

It seems funny that since starting the blog, we've had to coin or borrow several new expressions to be able to express what's going on in blog-world. (There's one.) The best thing about blogging is that we've made several blog-friends. (There's another.) We've been in the middle of a few "blights" (blog-fights), and we've had to turn the tv off several times, because one of us is "posting", and every blogger knows you can't post well while watching tv at the same time.
A new term Micah recently coined is the "blog-crush". Usage: "You have a blog-crush on them, don't you?"...or, "I think someone has a blog-crush on you." I think you could also make it a verb and be "blog-crushing", it's a very versatile term. And in most ways it's sweetly reminiscent of third grade- with one notable, original exception: a blog-crush is a fleeting, temporary infatuation with someone's words and ideas, thereby remaining curiously free from entanglements with physical appearance.
But temporary infatuations come, and temporary infatuations go.
Eventually your crush will blog their opinions on some topic with which you violently disagree, or find asinine and boring, and you realize they may not quite be the apotheosis of charm, intelligence, and sensitivity that you once thought. You are now free to enjoy their blog in a much more disinterested, passive fashion. Well, life (whether divorced from physical attraction or not) is full of these little disappointments and revelations. Good thing that every so often, you find someone that just keeps getting better with time and acquaintance. (Micah and Jon Stewart, this refers to you. Call me.)

And one last thing before signing off. I have something to say to the creators of Amish in the City (which concluded last week). Thank you for making a reality show with intelligence and depth, as well as the usual petty dramas. Hooray for addressing spiritual as well as sexual issues. Keep up the documentaries for the masses! We'll miss you!
