The Wounded (Non)Healer

I have a patient who has been on our home health services for three years. He has a surgical incision to his abdomen that never heals. We have tried everything, and I mean everything, several times. The wound will make some progress and then break open again. It never fully scabs over, never wholly knits itself back to healthy skin. He walks around every day with a gaping wound in his core held shoddily together with bandages and tape.

I know how this man feels.

Both of us are going to need a miracle.

"come now. let's not be melodramatic."

. . . . you asked me to . . . literally.
